Ancient ruins, Etna and arancini
There’s a lot to like about Sicily. Golden beaches backed by shady pine forests, magnificent archaeological sites to rival Rome, towering volcanoes rising out of unspoilt countryside, and a laid-back way of life that puts you in holiday mode the second you get off the plane. This 8-day group tour showcases the best of this unique island, from the volcanic valleys of Mount Etna to the sun-drenched sands of Cefalu. Step back in time in the Valley of the Temples and Syracuse, sip spritzes in Taormina’s high-end beach clubs, tuck into Sicilian specialities in vibrant Catania, and learn about the history of the Mafia in Palermo. Prepare to be seduced.

Itinerary

Day 1: Hello Catania
Arrive in Sicily's second largest city. A jumble of baroque piazzas, historic ruins, and gritty bars in the shadow of Mount Etna, Catania is Sicily at its most lively and youthful. Take a guided walk around the ancient port town before your first taste of Sicilian cuisine with dinner in a local restaurant.

Day 2: Taormina Tour
Spectacularly perched on the side of a mountain, our next stop is a chic resort town with a cinema-worthy backdrop. Explore the centre before soaking up views of Etna and the Ionian Sea as we take a cable car to the sun-drenched beach. Later, whip up some arancini in an optional cooking class.

Day 3: Mount Etna
You can't come to Sicily without visiting its imposing volcano. Still active, Etna boasts a unique surrounding landscape and panoramic views, and there's no better way to experience it than on our optional 4x4 tour. Make sure you're back in time for Aperol spritz sundowners though.

Day 4: Syracuse & Noto
Our next stop is beautiful Noto, a baroque beauty that looks so good you could mistake it for a film set. Explore the elegant Corso Vittorio Emanuele, and its gorgeous palazzi and churches. Then enjoy an optional farm-to-table dining experience at a local organic farm, before travelling on to Syracuse.

Day 5: Agrigento & Cefalu
Travel to Agrigento, where we'll explore the jaw-dropping Valley of the Temples, a treasure trove of Greek temples scattered amongst olive trees. Our home for the next couple of nights is the lovely coastal town of Cefalu, where we've lined up another mouth-watering Sicilian dinner.

Day 6: Cefalu Beaches
With postcard perfect squares and churches rubbing up against beautiful beaches and the cornflower blue Med, Cefalu is almost ridiculously pretty. Spend your day soaking up the sun, exploring the cobbled streets, and making like you're in your own version of Cinema Paradiso.

Day 7: Palermo
Travel to Palermo - our final stop on our Sicilian odyssey. Spend your day exploring the buzzing markets, Gothic palaces, and Arabic domes. Learn about the city's underbelly with an optional anti-Mafia walking tour, and round things off with a farewell dinner at a charming local bistro.
