What you get
Day 1: Arrive in Mexico
Fly into Cancún airport today and make your way to your starting accommodation in Playa del Carmen. Meet your group and tour leader at a welcome meeting this evening.
Day 2: Playa del Carmen
Spend a free day on the gorgeous beaches of Playa del Carmen. Wander along the sandy shores or slip beneath the surface to spot sting rays and sea turtles.
Day 3: Journey to Belize
Cross the border into Belize and then hop across to the small Caribbean island of Caye Caulker. Expect azure waters, swaying palm trees and sugary white-sand beaches.
Day 4: Island Life
Your next two days are free to explore and enjoy these exquisite island surroundings. Sit in one of the beachfront bars or strike out on the water for a spot of fishing.
Day 5: More Island Life
Why not get active on your second free day? Opt to go snorkelling, dive at the amazing Blue Hole National Monument, or watch the sunset in style on a sailing boat.
Day 6: Transfer to San Ignacio
Journey south to San Ignacio. Visit a pottery cooperative that supports the education and income of local women. Enjoy lunch with these women and learn about their ancient Mayan traditions.
Day 7: Explore San Ignacio
San Ignacio is the perfect spring-board for exploring the surrounding Mayan country. Head out on optional tours to the Actun Tunichil Muknal Cave or discover ancient Mayan waterways by canoe.
Day 8: Tikal Ruins Tour
Cross the border into Guatemala and travel to the ancient ruins of Tikal. Tour the site with a local guide and spot tropical wildlife in the shadows of the jungle.
Day 9: Rio Dulce
Journey southeast towards the small town of Rio Dulce, where glamorous yachts mingle with sleepy fishing boats.
Day 10: Rio Dulce
Enjoy a free day in this riverside town. A highly recommended excursion is to boat down to the mouth of the river, passing by swaying mangroves and soaring limestone cliffs (extra cost).
Day 11: Antigua Guatemala
Travel south to the colourful colonial streets of Antigua. Wander through these beautiful cobbled streets and get lost in the rhythm and passion of Salsa at an optional class.
Day 12: Antigua Guatemala
Spend the day exploring this atmospheric town. Learn about local produce with optional visits to cacao, macadamia or coffee plantations.
Day 13: Lake Atitlán
Journey through the Guatemalan highlands to the vast waters and shadowy mountains of Lake Atitlán.
Day 14: Guatemalan Homestay
Strike out across the lake in a boat and meet a local community on the northwest shore. You'll spend the evening with the community and eat a traditional local meal.
Day 15: Back to Antigua
Say farewell to your hosts and then journey back to Antigua. Make the most of your final afternoon and evening in the city. Tonight, celebrate with your group on a big night out.
Day 16: Tour Ends
Your tour ends this morning in Antigua Guatemala. Head back to the airport or stick around for more independent travel.
