Sunsets & Safaris
11 days from
Highlights of South Africa, Zimbabwe, and Botswana
Three countries, eleven days, and more life-changing experiences than we can count. This extraordinary group tour is packed with sublime wildlife encounters, adrenaline-pumping escapades, and some of the most spectacular scenery on Earth. Watch herds of elephants moving gracefully across Kruger National Park’s vast savannah, marvel at the thundering majesty of Victoria Falls, take an exhilarating cable car ride up Cape Town’s Table Mountain, spend nights round the campfire under African stars, see hippos wallowing in Chobe National Park’s shimmering flood plains, and meet the local rangers working to protect these incredible species from poachers. It’s an adventure into the wild.
Day 1: Arrive in Cape Town
Our adventure begins in one of the most beautiful cities on Earth. Drop your bags at the hotel and head out to explore the buzzing food markets, golden beaches, colourful street art, and dramatic mountain backdrop. Tonight, get to know your group over dinner and drinks.
Day 2: Table Mountain
Start today with a cable car ride up Table Mountain for views that will take your breath away, before a tour of the city's highlights, including Bo-Kaap and the scenic V&A Waterfront. This afternoon, join an optional township tour before a night of food and drinks at a Cape Town cooking class.
Day 3: Penguins & Vineyards
Today's yours to explore Cape Town at your own pace. Take an optional tour of Cape Peninsula to see the city's best bits, including Boulders Beach, home to the local tribe of African penguins! Then there's no better way to spend the afternoon than with a wine tasting at Cape Point Vineyards.
Day 4: Kruger National Park
Take a flight to Johannesburg, and travel to Kruger. One of the greatest wildlife viewing arenas in the world, the park is home to the Big Five and many other species. There's nowhere better to safari. Arrive in time for an unforgettable sunset game drive before a night in our riverside safari camp.
Day 5: Safari & Anti-Poaching
Rise with the sun for an optional morning game drive. Smell the fresh bush air, take in the landscape, and see nocturnal predators coming in from their hunt. Lunch at a local restaurant before meeting the rangers on an anti-poaching experience. Later, there's an optional sunset game drive as well.
Day 6: Sunrise Safari
Look for any animals you missed yesterday on a sunrise safari, including giraffes, lions, and cheetahs. Make an optional stop at a traditional local village to get a taste of rural life, before heading to lively Johannesburg.
Day 7: Victoria Falls
Fly to Victoria Falls where we'll waste no time getting out there with one of the Seven Natural Wonders. Marvel at the power of the sheer cascade of water, and the misty curtain rising like smoke from its base. An optional sunset cruise on the Zambezi makes the perfect end to the day.
Day 8: Adventure Activities
Victoria Falls is big on adventure sports, and we've got lots for you to choose from today. Grab a paddle and hit some of the best white-water rapids in the world, experience the adrenaline of a bungee or swing from Victoria Falls Bridge, or fly through a scenic gorge on a zip line.
Day 9: Chobe National Park
See the falls from above this morning with an optional helicopter flight or take a walking safari through Zambezi's National Park. Then travel to Chobe, where we'll take a game drive along the banks of the river, before staying in the heart of the wilderness in a safari camp or lodge.
Day 10: Chobe Game Drive
Watch the sun rise over the African bush before a morning game drive. See herds of elephants move gracefully across the plains, hippos basking in the river, and lions prowling in search of their next meal. Spend the rest of the day by the pool or take an optional wildlife cruise on the Chobe River.
Day 11: Trip End
Enjoy a last breakfast with the group and reminisce about the amazing experience you've shared, before journeying to Kasane, Botswana, or back to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe and making your way home. Better get planning the next trip!
Accommodation & Meals
We’ve included all your accommodation on this trip. As well as stylish, well-appointed hotels in Cape Town and Johannesburg, you’ll stay in the heart of Africa’s epic landscapes with rustic lodges and safari tents on the borders of Kruger and Chobe National Parks, and an explorers’ village or hotel within spraying distance of Victoria Falls.
Please note: From January to June, you’ll be staying in a waterfront hotel in Victoria Falls, with a riverside deck and bar. From July to December, you’ll stay in an explorers’ village, just 400m from the falls. Also, due to the rainy season, overnight camping in Chobe is not available from October to March. Instead, you’ll spend two nights in Chobe at a lodge.
Lots of our travellers are solo travellers, so when you book with us, we’ll pair you up with a like-minded roommate of the same sex. Our trips are great for couples or friends as well - just let us know you’re together, so we can be sure to put you in the same room.
The above information is only intended to be used as a guide, giving you a flavour of some of our accommodation providers, and the style of accommodation you may be staying in. Please note that all nights are subject to change.
10 breakfasts and 1 dinner are included on this trip. The rest of the time you’ll have the freedom to eat wherever and whenever you like.
From braai to biltong, Southern Africa is as much a destination for foodies as it is for thrill seekers and wildlife lovers. A colonial past has made its mark on the region’s food, and you’ll find a blend of cultural influences from Dutch and German to Indonesian. Meat is at the heart of many traditional dishes from hearty stews to rich curries. These can feature everything from familiar favourites like chicken and beef, to more exotic fayre such as ostrich, impala, and even crocodile. That said, veggies are well catered for these days as well. Our top tips? Don’t miss the bobotie.
