Real Travellers Melissa and Becky reflect on their experience travelling across the USA

Hi everyone, we've made it home back to not so sunny England and we're missing travelling already! Can't believe it went so quickly! Here's the last leg of our America journey and what's next for us :)

New Orleans couldn't come quick enough. It was great to be able to sleep in a bed, rather then in a campsite! New Orleans is like something out of a film, its amazing. The architecture is beautiful, the food is incredible, even the street signs are cool! We got to the hotel and then made our way to Bourbon street to check out what it had to offer. Within 10 minutes we had been pulled into a bar and asked to sing karoake, not something we were shy to do. All of the trek group got up on stage and started singing Journey, Don't Stop Believing. Can't go wrong!

We got back to the hotel a little later on, got ready, payed a few cheeky games and headed out. The thing with Bourbon street is most bars are on like a take away system, so the whole street is crowded with people just chilling and having a drink or two. We headed into another karoake bar (Cat's Meow) and then sang the night away. Before heading home, we had a people american diner style greasy fry up (delicious) and then collapsed in bed.

After New Orleans, we went on a swamp tour and got chased by some aligators and then fed them some hot dogs, very surreal.

I finally made it to New York, and my friend from home surprised us with a visit! It was lovely to see her and we got to spend some time together, in a fab hotel, and do some proper tourist sight seeing. We did everything! Empire State Building, Central Park, Rockafella Centre, World Trade Centre, Ellis Island, Statue of Liberty, the lot! After a very packed few days though, it was time to head home. The flight was pretty difficult, with a short stop over in Iceland and just wanting to get home, it just seemed to go on forever. But we made it!

Now we're home, we can look back on what an amazing trip it was. I can't believe how much we did in a relatively short space of time. It will go down as the best year of my life so far and if you're even remotely thinking about travelling, just go for it! You've got nothing to lose :)
